Our Ethos

Warrior Spirit.

This is the foundation of our will to fight, a force we must harness in training. ‘Never out of the fight!’ Safety stands as our primary objective, and we must cultivate an attitude that advocates doing whatever it takes within the rules of self-defence to achieve it. Remember: when the threat stops, you stop.

Learner Centric.

At PKM, we tailor our sessions to meet the needs of the trainees, addressing current potential threats and imparting skills that can be easily adapted to continually evolving real-world situations.

Fair.

Ensuring fairness not only in the use of combative ability but also within our inclusive community. We are committed to fostering a safe training environment without discrimination.

Honest.

We commit to providing honest and constructive feedback about performance. Our goal is to explore the practical relevance of techniques in an honest and personalised manner, relative to your own perception.

Ego Free.

At PKM, leave your ego at the door when you train – don’t seek justice here. We encourage our trainees to exercise sound judgement both in training and potential violent encounters, emphasising the importance of doing so without ego.

Adaptive.

We acknowledge that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for every person. Therefore we adopt a realistic and adaptive approach to techniques and scenarios.

Supportive.

Adversity varies from person to person, with what may be challenging for one being easy for another. Peer-to-peer learning is fundamental to the success of our training. Recognising the diversity in life experiences and physical attributes among our trainees and instructors, we promote collective sharing of perceptions and provide mutual support, fostering critical thinking and enhancing overall development.
